Kanye and Drake Interviews Will Fulfill All Your Weekend Reading Needs

Between the Kanye West interview that came out in Vanity Fair this week, and Drake’s cover feature for Fader’s 100th issue, there’s a lot of reading material to catch up on this weekend. You may have already heard that Kanye’s confirmed his upcoming run for presidency in 2020, and that Drake addresses the Meek Mill beef in his own conversation, but the best parts of both interviews lay in the details of their work processes’. I won’t ruin the entire interviews, but here’s my favorite Kanye quote:

“I think the words “dreamer” and “passionate” diminish my will to execute. Because to be passionate about something or to dream about something does not say that it was executed. So when we talk about second season, it was executed. When we went and had a great season with stores, with Barneys and Luisa Via Roma and all these amazing stores, that was executed. When those Yeezys came out and sold what they did, that was executed. You can have the longest intellectual artistic conversation about anything and it all means nothing without execution.”

and here’s my favorite Drake quote:

“I’ve been deprived of driving for a long time,” he says. “Riding to the studio with a driver and security and stuff, you lose something…that ride was my favorite thing in the world, you know?” he says. “And before that ride, it wasn’t going to the studio, it was going to my girl’s house, or going wherever. Driving was just one of the most pivotal things in my writing life.”
