Johnny Depp Is Actually Playing Donald Trump in a Movie
Funny or Die is streaming a 50-minute comedy called “Donald Trump’s The Art of the Deal: The Movie” starring Johnny Depp as Mr. Donald Trump. The title for the film comes from a book written by the man himself, Trump’s business advice book sold in 1987, titled “The Art of the Deal”.
Adam McKay, who co-founded Funny or Die (alongside partners like Will Ferrell and Judd Apatow) said of the project, “It was a crazy, completely nuts idea that somehow we pulled off.” McKay also just directed the Oscar-nominated movie, “The Big Short”.
The entire production team kept the movie a secret for months, unsure of how long Trump’s campaign would last. Last Tuesday, they released the film in time to coincide with Trump’s victory at the New Hampshire Republican primaries. The short movie is said to be a new trend in Hollywood: the “fake television movie of the week”. Jack McBrayer, Patton Oswalt, Alfred Molina, Henry Winkler, Andy Richter and Michaela Watkins also star.
Can Johnny Depp pull off his role off as “The Donald”? Will Depp’s portrayal sway young girl voters to Trump fandom? Only time, and Trump will tell.
