Ivanka Trump Came Up With an Excuse for That Tone Deaf Photo

Ivanka Trump is not a dumb woman, which is why it was extra puzzling when she posted a tone deaf photo of herself celebrating a glamorous night out with her bow tie-wearing husband on Saturday night, while countless Americans were protesting Trump’s Immigration Ban.

But don’t worry, Ivanka not only feels terrible about the whole thing, but she also has a totally understandable explanation for why she posted the picture in the first place.

She didn’t think it would be a big deal.

Translation: this not dumb woman is playing dumb.

A source close to the fiasco said Ivanka “feels terrible about the post and does not want something like this to happen,” according to Vanity Fair.

And a second source echoed this answer to VF, explaining Ivanka’s, “naivete in not understanding her surroundings or circumstances,” was to blame for her behavior, but not to worry, because she can totes “adjust her behavior accordingly.”

Although as Vanity Fair points out, the real excuse was probably because Ivanka and her husband are orthodox Jews, and from sundown on Friday until sundown on Saturday they abstain from technology and work.

It’s called Shabbat and it’s almost the perfect alibi.

Sure, Ivanka and her husband may have been blissfully unaware of the ruckus Trump’s executive order caused between sundown on Friday and sundown on Saturday, but if Ivanka had the time to go on her phone and post a picture to Instagram after sundown on Saturday, it’s hard to believe she didn’t know what was going on.

The Immigration Ban was the biggest story over the weekend.

Everybody was talking about it, tweeting about it and commenting about it.

And to further prove she’s not the dumb blonde she’s playing right now, Ivanka has yet to make a direct statement about the photo or delete the post.

She knows the post will blow over within the next couple of days when Trump does another no good, very bad unconstitutional thing.

Because in the grand scheme of our current political reality, if the worst thing that the first family does is post a tone deaf photo on the gram, that’s a good day.

Still.

Ivanka.

Next time you think about posting a lifestyles of the rich and famous-style pic, check your phone to see how many people your father’s pissed off today and plan your social media activity accordingly.

We all know you know better than this.

Then again, you do have a sus history when it comes to posting Instagram photos.
