How to Copy Olivia Culpo’s Burgundy Smokey Eye
Even though she’s kind of a movie and TV outsider, Olivia Culpo’s style stole the show at the 2017 Golden Globes.
Her Zuhair Murad dress was a massive (seriously, the diameter had to be like six feet) success. But what we’re really here to talk about is her stunning beauty look.
Her burgundy eyeshadow was reminiscent of Kylie’s burgundy eye palette — but you don’t have to crash your computer browser trying to cop it. Luckily, it’s all available through L’Oreal at your local CVS.
“We went for very bold, runway-inspired makeup for Olivia’s look tonight,” makeup artist Sir John said of the look through a spokesperson. “We opted for a dramatic eye, nude lip and soft, luminous skin, playing on different textures to create visual interest and drama.”
L’Oreal was kind enough to send us a step-by-step guide to copying Olivia’s look. Here it is.
1. Moisturize and prep
To start, Sir John used L’Oreal Paris Hydra-Genius Moisturizer for Normal to Dry Skin ($17.99) and L’Oreal Paris Visible Lift Radiance Booster Primer ($12.99) to prep Olivia’s skin.
2. Blend in your foundation
Then, Sir John applied L’Oreal Paris True Match Super Blendable Makeup ($10.95) using the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Blend Artist Foundation Blender ($7.99).
3. Craft your perfect concealer color
For concealer, Sir John mixed shades from the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Total Cover Concealing & Contour Kit ($16.99) and applied with the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Blend Artist Concealer Blender ($7.99).

4. Contour and highlight
For Olivia’s cheeks, Sir John first used the L’Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Contour Palette ($12.99) to create a soft contour. Then, he mixed L’Oreal Paris True Match Lumi Liquid Illuminator in Ice and Golden ($12.99ea) and applied to Olivia’s cheekbones, bridge of her nose and Cupid’s bow.
5. Nail the watercolor eyeshadow look
For Olivia’s watercolor eyes, Sir John used L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche Pocket Palette in Boudoir Charme ($9.99). He then lined her eyes with L’Oreal Paris Infallible Paints Eyeliner in Black Party ($9.99).
6. Get your lashes looking good
7. Groom, style, and set the brows
To create a bold, defined brow Sir John used the L’Oreal Paris Brow Stylist Frame and Set ($12.99) first grooming her brows, then styling and setting with the pomade.
8. Blend your perfect lip color
To finish the look, Sir John mixed a custom lip shade using L’Oreal Paris Infallible Paints Lipcolor in Taupeless and Nude Star ($9.99 ea) to create Olivia’s gorgeous nude lip.
Et voila, you’ve got Olivia’s gorgeous look. Spritz on a finishing spray and you’re good to go.
