Hipster Barbie Is Like All Those People You Hate On Instagram, Only Hilarious

Even though we think of Barbie as this conservative glamour girl who would never trade in her pink high heels and matching Corvette for anything, these days Barbie’s been acting a little…different. I don’t know who showed up to her dream house with a bag of pot brownies and Animal Collective CDs, but now the only profession Barbie’s interested in mastering is being a Hipster.

Even though she’s a couple of years too late to the party, she’s already better at Instagram than you.

Hipster Barbie, whose real name is Socality Barbie (but let’s be real, socality is not a word) is just like all those people you hate on Instagram, only hilarious because she’s, you know, not real.

Socality Barbie is the creation of a wedding photographer in Portland, Oregon, who took a look at Instagram one day and couldn’t believe that “people were all taking the same pictures in the same places and using the same captions.” In an interview with Wired, she elaborated saying, “ I couldn’t tell any of their pictures apart so I thought, ‘What better way to make my point than with a mass-produced doll?’”

At the time that I was writing this article, Hipster Barbie had 27.3k followers. By the time you read this sentence, she’ll probably have more.  It’s hard to be so #blessed, but luckily for all of us, she finds a way.

And just like all those people that you hate on Instagram, Hipster Barbie has way better style than you…or at least, she knows how to make it look like she does.

Here’s Hipster Barbie’s outfit for the day:

Here’s her staring off into the distance, with only her backpack and her dream of adventure:

Here’s a picture of her hanging out on her Pendleton blanket:

And here’s her hanging out on the cover of Kinfolk, looking like a babe:

Oh, and did we mention that she’s writing a book?

It’s sure to be very, very informative:

Check out the rest of her pictures here, and get ready to laugh at your generation.
