Gwyneth Paltrow Opens Up About “Conscious Uncoupling”
Last year, Gwyneth Paltrow announced her separation from Chris Martin of Coldplay, and in the process coined the term “conscious uncoupling”. This invented term led the media to ridicule her and her relationship, forcing her to avoid the spotlight for some time. But this past week, Paltrow attended an event, “Pearl xChange” hosted by Nicole Richie, and opened up more about her relationship struggles.
She discussed the way in which her family background wasn’t one that thought of divorce as an option; “I really don’t come from a culture of divorce at all, and I had very high hopes for what my life could be.”
She went on to say, “I think that it was very difficult for me that I couldn’t do that and that I wasn’t able to be married to the father of my children for the rest of my life. It was very challenging for me in terms of having to re-asses what that said about me, ideas that I had about that kind of failure.”
