Gigi Hadid’s Body-Positive Instagram Post From This Morning Explained
There’s no doubt that Gigi Hadid is beautiful, but nonetheless, New York Fashion Week brought out the ugly side of the modeling world. The it-girl has developed her career not only as an editorial and runway model with a bombshell body (did you know Jeremy Scott was her first fashion show?) but for portraying herself as an actual person, with feelings, on social media. This morning, she posted a long statement addressing the body-shaming comments and feedback that she’s received after walking in various shows last week. “No, I’m not the first or last model of my type in the industry,” she wrote, a nod to the pre-Kate Moss era of modeling, when the likes of amazonian-type bodies like Cindy Crawford, Helena Christensen, and Susan Holmes McKagan dominated the runways of the world.
She went on, saying: “I hope everyone gets to a place in their lives where they’d rather talk about the things that inspire them over the things that bring others down.” then took to Twitter to profess her love for other women’s bodies. “I <3 ashley graham’s body, i <3 my body, i <3 taytay’s body, i <3 Queen khloe’s body, i <3 A. simpson’s body, I <3 SERENAS body #ALLDIFFERENTALLPERFECT”
And that’s why we love Gigi forever.
