“With London Fashion Week finally upon us we all look to the Britannia for bold new looks from the latest up and coming designers who are sure to deliver clothing down the runway that keeps us all excited. When we look to inspiration in our London ladies it is easy to look to the royals, the rebels and the forever reigning super models that have made themselves famous the world over. For me one of the most famous beauty icons who already seems to be inspiring is England’s own rose. The late, great Princess Diana. This mother of the future King made a splash the world over with her contemporary views on politics, fashion, and her formidable love of blue eye liner. One needs look no further than New York Fashion Week to see her influence on such important runways as Marc Jacobs, Marc by Marc and many more. Say what you will but blue eye liner is back and we …I am using the royal we…are certainly amused and excited about it.”-James Vincent
To achieve Princess Diana’s dynamic blue liner look the trick it to take the rest of your makeup to a more minimal place. This is all about the eye. Let the Blue Eye Liner be the superstar.
I am giving a definite nod to nineties chic here start by swiping a base shadow in a pink peach, beige or bone shade in a matte texture all over the eye from brow to lash with a soft brush. I love MAC Cosmetics Yogurt for this shade as the soft, pink creates a canvas that will really make the blue pop.
Next build in your contours. Keep it soft and simple with a swipe of Kevyn Aucoin The Sculpting Powder in the crease and along the top and lash line. This will add in depth and dimension and keep the blue looking more modern.
Now add in the blue liners. I love to pair a pencil with a liquid or cream liner for an exciting mix of color and texture. Start along the top lash line with Make Up For Ever Aqua Liner in Diamond Turquoise Blue with a hint of sparkly sheen to lift and open the eye. Next add Ardency Inn Smooth Ride Supercharged Eye Pencil in Turquoise inside the eye on the waterline. These liners are ideal for a night on the town or all day wear as they are waterproof and make the eye look wicked.
Finish this eye with Inglot Colour Play Mascara in 03 Blue for a full and voluminous lash look that brightens and whitens the eye and is the perfect finish to this lovely Lady Di look.
I pair this bold eye with a soft lip and cheek for just the right amount of royal glam. Try Stila Convertible color in Petunia paired with Ardency Inn American Natural Lip Pencil in Bowery or Delancey for a makeup look worthy of a model or a monarch.
