Galore TV Goes Inside America’s First Women-Only Mosque
On this episode of Galore TV, host and producer Kettie Jean takes us into America’s first women’s only mosque located in Los Angeles. Mosques for women exist in a few other countries, including China and India, but none have existed in the States until now. We’re psyched on the development—the mosque seeks to uplift the Muslim community by empowering women and girls with a safe place to worship or observe. Notably, women of all different faith groups and background are welcome to attend and support their Muslim counterpart. The founder of the Mosque, Hasna Maznavi, also hopes to change extremist perceptions of the religion; in the wake of the tragedy at the Hajj (hundreds were stampeded to death during the annual pilgrimage to Mecca) the community has also put extreme efforts towards rebuilding and healing.
