Galore Starlet: Chrysta Bell
Chrysta Bell has it ALL. A performing/recording artist, model, and muse to film director, David Lynch, Chrysta is one to watch in the upcoming year. Her sultry, soulful sound is one that can’t be forgotten, and she has the looks to match. Check out our interview and shoot with Chrysta below, and in our new issue, available HERE!
How would you describe your sound?
The music of This Train is contemplative, phantasmagoric, sensual, soothing, erotic. It covers a lot of ground.
What is the meaning behind the song “This Train”?
I can speak for my interpretation of This Train, that it pertains to the acknowledgement life ever- after and ever- before, and the serenity that comes from the utter acceptance of the aspects of our being-ness that are infinite and incomprehensible.
Who is your style icon?
I’ve never consciously chosen a personal style icon, though, I do respect and admire individuals who put effort and intention into their expression of fashion without making it look over-conceived. I consider people with a great sense of style to be walking art. I appreciate it very much. If I had to choose a style icon, just to be romantic, today I’d say Ava Gardner.
You hold the title most women would kill over- being the muse of David Lynch! How does that make you feel?
David makes me feel appreciated, acknowledged, and excitable. His faith in me has helped give me courage to keep moving towards the highest version of myself that I can be. Being called his muse in the press is a juicy tidbit to nibble on, but really I am his creative collaborator. We inspire each other and we dig each other’s vibe and we are fortunate enough to be able to make art together.
Who were some of your favorite starlets and sirens growing up?
Some favorite starlets and sirens include Audrey Tautou, Ann Margret, Cate Blanchett, Eartha Kitt, Julie London, Carey Mulligan.
I saw Wim Wender’s ‘Wings of Desire’ recently and remembered what a gorgeous film that was. I’ll go with that.
One item you cant live without?
Dark chocolate. I’d probably survive without it, but what kind of life would it be?
Your current obsession?
Self-massaging my breasts. I do it 4 times a week with Earthsong Pomegranate Breast Oil so they can stay juicy, healthy and happy. I started massaging them a few months back and it brings a real sense of peace, well being and overall rejuvenation. Moving the lymph helps flush out toxins. I’d much rather create vitality now than cure disease later. My breasts really like to be touched. There’s no downside.
Growing up did you always want to be a singer?
My mother is a singer and we were always singing together. I joined a children’s musical theater group early on. I always was a singer, though I can’t say I was always a great singer, I just loved doing it and I loved doing it in front of people. It never occurred to me that couldn’t or shouldn’t just follow my passion and natural inclination for music and that everything would turn out ok. Fortunately in this case I’m not much of a pragmatist.
What can we expect from Chrysta Bell this fall?
I’ll be touring again in the fall with shows in Croatia, Russia, Turkey, Italy and France. The band will be bringing new original material into the set and expanding the mixed media elements of the live performance. I’ll be pushing myself out of comfort zones, keeping myself entertained and hopefully at some point in the process realizing I’ve made some kind of progress, or convincing myself that I have. Either way there will be plenty of dark chocolate.
