Galore Darling: Style Guru Shea Marie On Her Collab With Steve Madden
Leading up to fashion week we need to hear the tips from THE fashion and style experts Shea Marie, who’s reputation is of the highest. We spoke to her about her own blog PEACELOVESHEA, which gives you all the fashion tips you need. She recently collaborated with Steve Madden for a campaign and obvs it’s dope. Check out some of the pix from it below and what Shea had to say about this fashion week.
How did your site PEACELOVESHEA come about?
I was working for a designer in downtown Los Angeles and was in the process of looking for a new job. I thought that a site to showcase my style and inspiration could be a great addition to a resume. My mother is a photographer so we started shooting photos together. Although there were other blogs out there I was one of the few that had really beautiful professional photos, which I think caught people’s attention- along with my sense of style (I would hope).
What 5 things should every girl have in her closet?
1) Thigh high boots.
2) A perfect leather jacket.
3) A chic simple bucket bag.
4) The stunning LBD you saved up to buy.
5) A steamer.
What inspired this collection for Steve Madden?
A girl like myself – strong, sexy and independent – who knows that you can make an outfit with a good pair of shoes. And that with the right confidence you can own any room.
What shoe will you be wearing the most during NYFW?
Well I wish I could wear the thigh high (the Ocean) but since I think it will be a little too hot I’ll be wearing the Venice (my personal favorite) and the Ventura in patent black leather for running around the city when I need chic flats.
What is your favorite brand at the moment?
I love Anthony Vaccarello and Alexandre Vauthier. I always think if I had continued celebrity styling that’s what my girls would be wearing! For everyday wear you mainly find me in A.L.C, IRO, Rag & Bone, Alexander Wang to name a few.
What statement piece completes any outfit?
What song inspires you this month?
I’m really loving Sam Smith’s “Money on my mind”. Not every word per say but the emotion he puts into his singing. After seeing him perform at the VMAs I was just like “wow. this is someone that loves and believes in what he’s doing.” It’s real and it’s genuine. “I don’t have money on my mind I do it for the love.” That’s how I see my career and my life.
Which celeb would you like to makeover?
Anyone who thinks that showing more skin is the way to look sexy. Sense of style is what’s sexy, not nudity.
What show are you binge watching at the moment?
I’m bad for this question because I don’t watch TV- ever. I’m so busy and when I’m not I’m always on my computer if I had to stare at another screen I might explode. I like Discovery channel and the history channel. Those kind of things. I’m a nerd.
What shops do you love in NYC?
Kirna Zabete, Intermix, Barneys New York, Curve
What is next for Shea?
There’s so many things in the works. I don’t like to talk about anything before it happens, I always get jinxed! I’ll let you know when it happens…
