Galore Darling: Gabrielle Aplin is Definitely the Sound of the Summer
English musician Gabrielle Aplin recently released her EP English Rain, which is such a delight we had to get a minute with the darling to talk about her music and what’s coming up or her this summer.
How did you get in to music industry?
I started by uploading my music online, and releasing EP’s independently through iTunes and touring on my own, until I signed to Parlophone 2 years ago which is when I started working on my first album.
How would you describe the kind of music you do?
I think my music is organic. I focus mainly on the song. Music and lyrics first, then production follows.
Who have been your greatest inspirations?
Joni Mitchell, Crosby Stills and Nash and Nick Drake have inspired me lots with my songwriting.
What has been your greatest highlight so far?
I’ve had many, many moments where I’ve been very grateful, but I think being able to travel to so many countries is a highlight.
Tell us about your EP, what can listeners expect from English Rain?
It’s a collection of songs from my debut album (which is hopefully out soon!) that I think best portray the record. I also recorded a cover of Joni Mitchell’s ‘A Case of You’ especially for the EP.
Where will you be touring this summer?
I’m spending most of the summer writing and recording my second album. But I will be playing a gig at Glastonbury Festival!
