DJ Zara Martin Drops Her New Mixtape And Talks Style Obsessions
It chick Zara Martin is a beauty and music force to be reckoned with. We don’t know how she had time to collab with Kiehl’s, create perfect playlists for her Coachella DJ gigs, all while looking incredible and making a bomb mixtape with her friend Whinnie Williams. She talked to us about style, her dream collab, and the most important question of all– lipstick or gloss. See it all plus her exclusive pics, and get her new mixtape with Winnie- which is live for the first time right here!
How would you define your style in two words?
Hair and heels.
At what age did you realize you were passionate about music?
A really young age! There was always music playing in my house growing up. I terrorized my family learning every Take That (English boy band. Think N*SYNC with a splash of baby oil) lyric verbatim.
You have DJ’d for Chanel, Versace and Fendi. How was it working with some of the top designers around the world?
Mainly, awesome. You get to meet some rare characters, wear incredible clothes, see spectacular locations all over the world, and play some tunes!
You’re a jewelry designer as well! How did you get started?
Ummm….I wouldn’t say I was a jewelry designer specifically but I love collaborating with brands that allow you the creative freedom to put your own stamp on things! The jewelry line was a music inspired collection with Made at ASOS.com…. My next project is a headphone line with Skinny Dip sold exclusively through Topshop and Topshop.com. We did limited edition light up headphones for Christmas and the full line comes out later this year!
Do you have any go-to accessories that you can’t leave home without?
I wear a ring on every finger that I’ve collected in my travels. Other than that, I take my FujiFilm Instax camera with me everywhere.
What is your ideal day-to-night outfit?
Leather pants, boots and some sort of shirt.
Leather or fur?
Delicate or chunky shoe?
If you had to wear one designer for the rest of your life, who is the lucky label?
Gucci or Saint Laurent. Can’t choose, sorry!
Lipstick or gloss?
Which female musicians do you identify with stylistically?
There are so many great female acts right now, but I tend to lean towards Hip Hop/ R&B of the early 2000s variety – so like of Lil Kim, Missy Elliot, Foxy Brown, Aaliyah etc.
If you could collab with any artist, who would it be & why?
Kanye. He’s hilarious.
