DJ Earworm Mashed Together All This Year’s Top Hits Into One Song
There is no denying that 2015 was a huge year for music, Adele is back, Justin turned us all into Beliebers, and we’re still down for every thing that Drake does. This morning DJ Earworm released his annual ‘United State of Pop’ for the year 2015, a massive mash-up of the year’s biggest hits. Considering the mix opens with Adele’s “Hello” and also features artists like Fetty Wap, Jason Derulo, One Direction, and Taylor Swift, you would kind of expect it to be a hot mess, but it isn’t. DJ Earworm somehow managed to put all the songs together in a catchy way, which makes sense, since it’s literally composed of all the choruses that have been looping through our heads all year. He speaks about his process saying “”I try to get a feel of what is in the zeitgeist. Music has been going through a softer phase than it was a few years ago so there’s that return of adult contemporary. That’s maybe represented by the Ellie Goulding track, it’s very lush and soft. And then there’s sort of retro, uptempo dance stuff, and that’s represented by The Weeknd track. It’s a more eclectic mix than it was five years ago.” So there you go, a song perfect for when no one can agree what to play next on Spotify at your NYE party.
