The Return of the Dancefloor Diva
You know how there’s always that one song that you never ever get sick of? For me, that currently includes Rihanna’s “Diamonds” and any Britney or Patti Smith tune — because, you know, my musical palette is really diverse. That’s also the case when it comes to Brooklyn synth-pop outfit, Class Actress, and their full-length debut, Rapprocher (which, by the way, means “to come closer.”) There’s just something about those lovelorn shadowy bangers that leave me dancing on my own (and maybe crying several tequila tears) at an underground rave. The charismatic front-woman, Elizabeth Harper, is the sexy siren behind the mic, and if you haven’t been to a Class Actress show… to be frank… whacha f***ing waiting for?! Spoiler alert: Her dreamy pipes will break your heart and/or have you making out with a nearby cutie, and her fashion numbers will make you bolt to the nearest designer vintage store. K, and don’t even get me started on her late ’80s-stylized music videos, specifically “Weekend,” seen above, which features a Jean-Michel Basquiat lookalike. *Swoon* As a result of our Class Actress obsession, Galore quizzed Harper on everything from her favorite foreplay-friendly song (meow!) to who’s her favorite Spice Girl (Hint: it’s not Ginger). Like a true Galore-approved dance-floor diva, Harper keeps you guessing. (Okay, and she also totally gives me sassy early Madonna-interview vibes, which is how I like my pop stars.)
