Brandi Cyrus Knows Festival Fashion Better Than Anyone

Photography + Interview by Angelo Kritikos

Brandi Cyrus is popping up all over the place as of late. Whether it’s hosting her newly launched web-isodes, endlessly scrolling through her blog or shopping her fashion looks, the it-girl has been balancing all sorts of projects. We recently shot some festival inspired looks and caught up with her in the middle of her post Coachella depression. Brandi is our obsession with her glitter and sparkles Galore. Something tells us, it runs in her fam. Check out her interview, below!

We’re fans of your fashion blog StyleNative! What influenced you to start blogging?

I’ve always loved the concept of style and how what you wear is such an easy way to express yourself and who you are! It’s easy to be fashionable – you just wear designer clothes and it all looks great, but it takes creativity to have a truly great STYLE and dress to express who you are – StyleNative is where I can share my individual style and hopefully influence girls to get creative with theirs!

How would you describe your personal style?

I’d say comfort is definitely KEY for me. i feel most like myself in jeans and a band tee, or some chunky boots and a dress. My goal is to look pretty, a little trendy, and chic all while staying true to my tomboy self.

How do you prep for a photo shoot?

I try to get 8 hours of sleep the night before – because it shows in the photos if you don’t. I use eye patches in the morning for puffiness and moisturize my skin from head to toe. Also a very large cup of coffee is a MUST on the way to the shoot!

Tell us about your collaboration with Valley City. Is design something you want to explore?

Yes! I love love designing. It is so much fun to create things that YOU love and see the photos of girls wearing them and rocking them in their own way! I love how you can style one piece a million different ways. That’s the coolest thing about fashion! So I get to design a little mini collection every season with Valley City. It’s reasonably priced street wear – a lot of vegan leather and prints.. cool statement pieces that are totally appropriate for everyday wear.

What are your 5 must-have beauty products for Spring?

NYX BB Cream, MAC Lipstick in Ruby Woo, Kevin Murphy Hair Resort Spray, Dr. Jart Water Replenishment Face Mask, and SUNSCREEN <3

Do you have any advice on selecting the perfect fragrance?

I think the perfect fragrance finds you. There are so many scents to choose from, but I think you know when you find that one and you’re like “THIS is what I want people to associate me with when they smell me” haha!

Which fashion item are you currently obsessed with?

SNEAKERS –  I live in them. I also love that the mid-rise jean is in style because I was NOT built for low rise denim! I’m also obsessed with chokers – I have a silver Eddie Borgo one that I wear just about every day.

Are there any emerging designers on your radar we should know about?

I’m really into this new line called C/Chrst. It’s an LA based designer and she makes some really cool unique pieces, including a killer leather jacket.

What tips can you share with new festival goers on how to survive those long concert days?

DRINK LOTS OF WATER. The worst thing every is to get dehydrated. Also, wear comfy shoes – there are plenty of cute ones to choose from without sacrificing your festival style. Lastly, go with your BFF! Festivals are best when you’re with the people you love!
