Beauty Queen, Brandi Lee Weaver-Gates, Jailed After Faking Cancer For Donations
Pennsylvania beauty queen is behind bars this morning after faking a battle with cancer in an elaborate scheme to swindle people out of thousands of dollars. Brandi Lee Weaver-Gates, 23 year old reigning Miss Pennsylvania US International, began telling people she was diagnosed with Chronic Lymphocytic Leukemia in March of 2013.
Last month, the police received an anonymous tip saying the beauty queen was faking her illness. The letter stated Gates did not know the name of her doctors and had a healthy head of hair…amongst other things.
Investigators say her scheme was so elaborate that she had donators drive her to the hospital for treatment where they’d wait in the lobby for hours while she hid elsewhere in the hospital, never to receive ANY TREATMENT.
Crazy right? It gets weirder…
Gates held fundraisers to help pay her medical bills such as “Bingo For Brandi,” an event that ended up raising $14,000.
The Miss Pennsylvania US International pageant director issued a statement immediately saying that Gates was stripped of her title and will be required to turn in her crown and sash after her release from jail. “Butler’s Beauties believes that with a crown and sash you can accomplish many great things as a role model, spokesmodel and community leader as a beauty pageant queen,” the statement said. “When you deceive the public and take people’s money that is under the pretense of fraud, we will not tolerate those actions.”
The law isn’t tolerating Gates’ actions either. Her bond was set at $150,000, and she remains jailed at the Centre County Correctional Facility.
You crazy gurl, you crazy.
