7 Ways to Give Yourself an Instant New Year’s Makeover

I know the phrase “new year, new me,” probably makes you want to gag, but you can’t deny that you’ve at least once had the thought, “this is the year I get hot af.”

I mean, you’re already hot af, but maybe you want to get hotter, or edgier, or trendier, or just feel more “umph” when you look in the mirror everyday.

Instead of heading to the gym on January 1st like every other wannabe fit person, try one of these quick fixes.

1. Bangs

The right bangs can immediately change your look from basic mall rat to international woman of mystery. Obviously, you probs want to make sure that you like the way you look with bangs before going for it, so you can always try those new clip-on bangs that everybody seems to be rocking. YOLO, right?

2. Microblading

If you’re sick of penciling in your meticulously drawn eyebrows every morning, maybe you should spend your Christmas money on microblading. The treatment, which costs $150 and up, is sort of like a semi-permanent eyebrow tattoo. It’s the secret to why celebs look so great “without” makeup, and how you can too. Yes, it’s pricey, but if you think about how much time and money you spend on eyebrow products, it could be worth it for you.

3. Dye Your Hair

Even if you’re not trying to ball out with a cotton candy pink, you could always go a shade darker for winter or lighten up and be an ice queen. Or make like Kylie and just get a new wig for the weekends.

4. Cut Your Hair

Even though chopping off your locs can be a traumatic experience, you can’t deny that any girl with a sleek short cut automatically looks chic af. Plus, it means less time styling your hair, less product, and fewer hairballs in the shower. Sounds like a win?

5. Get Extensions

On the opposite side of things, why not take advantage of the cold weather and go long without worrying about sweating your balls off? Educate yourself on extensions, because certain ones can damage your hair, but the right set will have you feeling like a mermaid in no time.

6. Try Lash Extensions

We’re still not totally sold on lash extensions, but if you find a legit salon, it can take your natural makeup look up a major notch. If you’re a faux-lash addict, it’s def worth the dinero.

7. Learn How To Do Your Makeup

You’d be amazed what a quick brush of powder on your cheekbones could do. The only problem is, if you don’t know shit about makeup, you’re probs scared of looking like a hot mess.

If you’ve always been wanting to learn more about makeup, get your ass on YouTube and do it! It’s easier than ever to learn how to beat your face as long as you have a Wi-Fi connection. Just don’t spend all your rent money at Sephora right away.

8. Familiarize Yourself With Less Makeup

2016 was the year of the cake face, but lots of makeup artists, including Kim K’s, are now moving toward more natural looks. We’re not saying you have to “wake up like this,” but maybe back away from the contour palette and let your natural beauty shine?
