7 Tips To Sending Yourself ‘Secret Admirer’ Flowers On V-Day
Remember when Cher sent herself flowers in “Clueless”?
We’ve all been single during at least one Valentine’s Day. It’s both pressure-free and totally depressing.
Single ladies, stop complaining! It’s time to show yourself a little bit (or a lot) of love. Who needs a man? You’re a goddess and you know it bish.
There’s no need to scrounge through your contact list for a February 14th dinner date. Take a lesson from boss b*tches everywhere and join the 18% of women who send themselves flowers for Valentine’s Day.
We asked Sheryl White, a florist at BloomNation, the world’s largest online floral marketplace, and Manager of The Fiddly Fig, about how to successfully send yourself flowers that’ll look and feel like they’re from the hottest secret admirer ever.
1. IF YOU’RE TRYING TO MAKE SOMEONE JEALOUS.
Are you trying to get somebody’s attention using the evil powers of jealousy? If so, Sheryl recommends that you “send a beautiful, but not overly large, bouquet (as that would possibly tip people off) with very premium flowers that are impressive and of high quality.”
Some options can include “orchids, roses, hydrangea, and lilies. Send flowers that you love as you will be the one looking at them!”
Sheryl adds: “Send a box of premium chocolates with the flowers so that you can share and people will be more likely to notice.”
2. IF YOU’RE ON A BUDGET.
Per chance you love yourself but are broke as f*ck, Sheryl suggests that you “do something as simple as a single rose in a beautiful vase.”
3. IF YOU WORK IN AN OFFICE BUILDING.
Don’t forget to plan the delivery! “Let the florist know that they can leave it with reception,” Sheryl continues, “so that reception will either call you to come and get them or possibly bring them back himself or herself.”
4. IF YOU’RE TAKING THEM HOME.
You paid for the flowers, so you better enjoy them! Sheryl recommends that you “make sure to put them in a place that will be seen.”
Sheryl adds: “Let someone ask you where they came from. Then just say, ‘I received them at work from a friend and thought they would look great in the house.'”
5. IF YOU CAN’T THINK OF WHAT TO WRITE ON THE NOTE.
Writing yourself the perfect love letter is super stressful. Sheryl suggests you write something like, “It was great to see you again”, “Had a great time at dinner Wednesday”, or “Loved catching up with you”.
And if you’re wondering what NOT to do: “Do not sign the card with ‘Your Secret Admirer’. That definitely starts creating suspicions.”
And if you’re wondering what TO do: “Sign it with one initial. It will keep people wondering. Don’t put ‘I love you’, just something simple.”
6. IF YOU DON’T KNOW HOW TO REACT.
Don’t forget that it’s all about how you react to your very own floral delivery. “Act surprised and touched when you see the arrangement, but not overly so,” says Sheryl.
7. IF YOU WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW.
While buying yourself flowers is worth every penny, it’s also important that your friends know (think?) you’re admired. But how?
“Take a picture of the flowers and post them on your Facebook page. This is a good way to let friends and family know that you received them,” suggests Sheryl.
Sheryl adds: “I wouldn’t say ‘look what I received’, but something simpler, such as, ‘what a beautiful bouquet.'”
If your mom gets more Facebook likes than you, Sheryl says to “leave the note on the arrangement, so people in your office can see it.”
