6 times your favorite TV characters destroyed Thanksgiving

Thanksgiving can be a dreaded time of year because it is normally one of few occasions where all of the family gather together.

It’s inevitable that some tensions will rise and awkward silences. But if you watch these fab Thanksgiving episodes you will realize your family isn’t all that crazy.

1. Gilmore Girls, “A Deep-Fried Korean Thanksgiving”

The perfect example of how stressful Thanksgiving is. Lorelai and Rory are juggling four Thanksgiving invitations. Not only does their day involve eating tofu and deep friend turkey — yuck! — but the inseparable mother daughter duo fight over Rory’s college applications. Duking it out with your mom/best friend on a family holiday is pretty shitty. Almost as shitty as being a teen whose only friend is her mom.

2. Gossip Girl, “Blair Waldorf Must Pie”

When Blair learns her dad is skipping Thanksgiving this year she loses her shit. She bans Serena from dinner and eats a whole pie then throws it up. Dan and Serena end up eating French fries in a diner because things get pretty awk when Dan’s mom shows up and realizes Rufus and his ex Lily are getting on like a house on fire. Be happy you’re not a WASP this Thanksgiving.

3. 90210, “Smoked Turkey”

Although 90210 portrays the life of rich trust fund Beverly Hill kids, they have problems too, believe it or not. Liam’s estranged mom comes back but not to enjoy the festive season with her son but to ask him for money. Lame. Dixon uses this as a time to admit he’s a drug addict and a marriage breaks up. Money doesn’t buy you happiness and apparently neither do turkeys.

4. The O.C, “The Homecoming”

Nothing says family time like hosting Thanksgiving dinner for your dad and his new wife, who happens to be your best friend. Ryan spends his Thanksgiving visiting his brother in jail. I think we all have it pretty good compared to that. Lastly, Seth juggles two dinner dates by making out with one of them in the pool house and one of them at the dinner table. Jerk. You can’t have your pie and eat it too.

5. Friends, “The One With All The Thanksgivings”

Although our favorite gang get together which is cute and all, they reminisce about some pretty lame Thanksgivings. Monica remembers how she got called fat by her current beau Chandler, who watched his parents get divorced on the most family orientated holiday. Ross is down trodden with his current divorce and to top it of he has been evicted. So he is basically homeless.

6. Desperate Housewives, “Sorry Grateful”

Wisteria Lane would be nothing without drama, even on a day that should be all about coming together (and eating). Bree’s beau Keith comes to dinner with his parents who break up AT the dinner table. Awk! Susan opens her big mouth, as per usual, and calls Lynette a lazy mom. Gaby gets her daughter’s adoptive parents in trouble for being illegal immigrants. Which eventually causes their deportation (including Gaby’s daughter).

Okay, no more complaining about your aunt’s burnt turkey!
