50 Shades of Fashion Week: 5 BDSM-Inspired Looks We <3 and Fear

Forget 50 Shades of Grey—the real BDSM show to watch took place over fashion week. I’m a jerk though; I dragged my friends to the movies on Valentine’s Day, promising them M&Ms, buttery popcorn and 2 hours of trashy entertainment. We woke up as the credits were rolling; we had been asleep in each other’s arms, probably ever since the scene in which  Christian Grey goes apeshit over learning Anastasia’s virginity status. In an attempt to shake off the awful memory of Jamie Dornan’s tight-lipped smile, I’ve been reviewing fashion week. It seems however, I’m unable to escape this year’s BDSM obsession. Check it out:

1. Diesel’s Black Gold presented a ton of black outfits adorned with lace, straps and cut-outs. I personally can’t get over the concept that the visible bra-strap look is in again.

2. 50 Shades of Grey taught me that I really dislike watching adult males utter the phrase “playroom”. Altuzarra’s line provided an outfit that Anastasia might dress up in to enter Mr. Grey’s “playroom”.

3. Phillip Lim went the casual-BDSM route, which I really support. I like the idea of wearing lots of leather under all your normal clothes.

4.  I actually couldn’t tell if the Hood by Air show was inspired by BDSM, or if it was trying to convey the notion that fashion should resemble a horrible, horrible nightmare.

5. Chromat’s 2015 look is BDSM for aliens. My personal style is “homeless-chic”, so this look isn’t for me, but the heavy brows, top bun, and next-level plastic stockings are definitely on point.
