5 Things We Learned From The Weeknd’s Cover Story On Rolling Stone
It only makes sense that the 25-year old singer, The Weeknd, who currently has two Number 1 singles “Can’t Feel My Face” and “The Hills”, would be this month’s cover feature on Rolling Stone Magazine. This adds The Weeknd to the impressive list of music and pop culture icons who have graced the magazine’s cover before. Rolling Stone sat down with Abel Tesfaye for a candid interview about his recent success, love life, and aspirations, and we’ve brought to you the five things we took away from his interview.
He’s still learning how to adjust to the recent spotlight and fame.
“I just started being fancy, to be honest. Like, I just started learning how to pronounce what I’m wearing.”
Taylor Swift reportedly pet his hair during their first encounter.
According to E! News, Taylor Swift met The Weeknd at the 2015 Grammy’s after-party where he stated Swift approached him, discussing her appreciation of his music, “but the whole time she was talking, she was kind of petting my hair? I think she was just drawn to it – she must have been a little gone off a few drinks.”
He appreciates his mother.
“Everything good, I get from my mother.”
He’s definitely dating Bella Hadid, and he’s finally at the right point in his life to be in a relationship.
“If I’d met someone two years ago, I probably would’ve fucked it up. But I’m more- how do I say it? – clear-thinking now.”
He wants to continue his career until he’s an icon.
“Coachella was the first show I did in the States, and I hated my performance. I was scared shitless. I got on stage and thought I did pretty good, then I watched the tape, and it was a nightmare. I saw all the comments, and I wanted to kill myself. I remember telling my agent, ‘You need to book me as many shows as possible. That guy onstage is not a star. That’s not a legend’.”
