5 Lessons Your Skin Is Trying To Teach You

It’s hard to tell what is causing the hideous pimples on my beautiful face. Sometimes, finding the cure to clear skin seems like a battle I’ll never win. I pick, pry, Google, and ask everyone and their moms (literally), but I just do not know why bad things happen to good people. While I may not know the secret to a life void of pimples, I am an expert at listening to my skin when it’s crying for help. Take it from me, your skin is definitely trying to tell you something. Here are 5 reasons why you might be breaking out!

1. YOU ARE SPREADING BACTERIA ALL OVER YOUR SKIN.

Looks like it’s time to wash your makeup brushes! It’s crucial that you are washing them 2-3 times per week, at the very least. Bacteria gathers on the thin hairs of your brushes, and as you apply your makeup, you also spread bacteria all over your face. Plus, clean brushes allow for a smooth and flawless makeup application…just do it.

2. YOUR SKIN IS THIRSTY.

According to Chinese Face Mapping, blemishes on cheeks are commonly caused by dehydration. AKA: You need to drink more of that ever-so-delicious H2O. Up your intake of water to 8 ounces a day and see the total effect it has on your precious skin AND body.

3. YOUR HORMONES ARE RUINING EVERYTHING.

The chin area is where hormonal breakouts tend to strike. Pimples pop up around the time menstrual cycles do. The scientific term for these breakouts is “cystic”. A few methods you can use to prevent these bastards from ruining your life are birth control, chemical peels, and taking evening primrose oil to balance out raging hormones.

4. STRESS IS MAKING YOUR SKIN NERVOUS.

Another theory of Chinese face mapping is the idea that those overpowering zits smack-dab in the middle of your forehead are linked to stress levels. If you’re a powerful, savvy bitch with a job that has you cramming to meet deadlines, then it’s no surprise you’re breaking out. Take some time for yourself! Even if you only get the luxury of watching one episode of Real Housewives and/or drinking one glass of wine with dinner, do it.

5. YOUR PORES CAN’T BREATHE.

When you sweat, oil and toxins are escaping through the pores in your skin. That’s all lovely, until you leave the gym and aren’t able to shower for hours after. The longer you wait to rinse off, the more you’re letting all the toxic oil and dirt fester on your skin and clog your pores. Trapped oil and dirt create pimples, which pisses off a mega-babe, leads stress, and causes more problem zits. End this vicious cycle by immediately washing your face post-gym (or sex) session, if not showering entirely.
