5 Foundations For Festival Season
Weekend One of Coachella kicks off on Friday, and temperatures in Indio, CA will be reaching upwards of 90 degrees throughout the weekend. For a lot of us, festival season means a more bohemian art vibe, which for some may mean minimal make up and beauty looks. Bare skin (don’t forget sunscreen though!) is great for warmer weather but for those of us who just can’t bare to part with our photo perfect air brushed skin, here are five foundations that will stick with you throughout the heat.
Make Up For Ever is known for their professional grade products with a finish that lasts…well, forever. For a full coverage, but natural look, tray the Mat Velvet Matifying Foundation. The formula is water resistant, and controls shine, which means no matter how sweaty you get, this stuff is staying on your face. And what’s even better? This product comes in a range of 21 shades so you can find the perfect match no matter what skin tone you have.
At $48, this foundation might seem a little pricey but we promise Nars has made it worth your money. This foundation is the first of the Nars Cosmetic Line that is formulated as a full coverage foundation. It’s weightless natural finish will last about 16 hours, and is humidity resistant. While it’s a bit of a lighter and more dewy formulat than Make Up Forever’s, it is great for those of you who want to go a littler lighter on the make up, but aren’t ready to go completely bare skinned yet. On top of being light weight and long lasting, Nars promises that this magic liquid has been clinically proven to give those who wear it clearer skin in four weeks… a great added benefit that makes the $48 price tag hurt a little less.
Clinique’s Even Better Make Up is like an all in one product. Formulated with SPF 15, even if you forget to put on sunscreen when you’re out in the sun this weekend, as long as you slathered this foundation on your face and neck you can rest assured you’ll be protected (at least for a little while). This foundation is medium to full coverage, so it’s buildable depending on how you’re feeling. You can go for a lighter look, or a more airbrushed look depending on how much you put on– but either way this foundation works to immediately even tone and cover any blemishes. Likes the Nars foundation, Clinique’s Even Better Make Up promises long term benefits like more even skin tone and diminished dark spots in 4 to 6 weeks. In with 30 different shades, this foundation is a great choice for those with tricky skin tones to match.
A bargain compared to most other options, Sephora’s own collection’s Mattifying Compact is a super blendable powder formula, so for those with oily skin types who are trying to fight the sweat and the heat this foundation is perfect. Although the wear time is less than that of Make Up Forever’s and Nars, the portability of this product, packaged in a convenient compact with mirror and powder sponge, makes up for the shorter wear time, allowing for touch ups on the go and easy reapplication. This is the perfect product to just throw in your backpack or bag and keep with you, just in case you need to touch up for a selfie between sets.
One of the best reviewed foundations on the market, and winner of Allure’s Beauty Award for best shade range, this liquid foundation comes in 30 different shades, lasts for up to 15 hours through heat, humidity, and activity, and doesn’t change color throughout the day. You can basically be sure that this is not coming off your face. It’s a medium to full coverage formula, but unlike some of the other foundations featured it’s not formulated with SPF. While this can be good for not washing you out in photos, make sure you add some facial sunscreen to your routine before you apply this if you’re planning on using it this weekend (can you tell I am very adamant about sun protection?).
For the perfect finish with any of these formulas, and to make your look last even longer, you can always spritz on some finishing spray, which is sure to give you that extra insurance during the hot weekend in the sun.
