3 Yummy Face Scrubs You Can Make With Sugar, For Cheap

I love going to Lush and getting free samples of their natural soaps, body washes, and scrubs. But that has gotten time consuming: going to different locations, getting new samples and so on. So, I’ve begun perusing different sites and came across Gimme Some Oven, a health/DIY blog. Here are some goodies I found for natural, homemade facial scrubs. And bonus: all of the ingredients can be found in your kitchen!

DIY Coffee Sugar Scrub

Ingredients:

3 tablespoons of finely-ground coffee

2 tablespoons coconut oil

1 tablespoon of sugar

(optional) 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extra

What you do:

Stir everything together in a bowl. If you make enough, you can store it for up to 2 months in a jar.

Why it’s good:

From what I’ve read and experienced first-hand, coffee and caffeine are super good for your skin. Apparently, the experts say that coffee: diminishes cellulite, tightens and tones your skin, and acts as an exfoliant. Also, coffee is an anti-inflammatory, so if you have some acne you’re dealing with, it’ll reduce the size and redness.

Peppermint Sugar Scrub

1 cup granulated white sugar

1/2 cup mild-flavored oil (like avocado, peppermint, coconut, or grapeseed)

8-12 drops essential oil (more or less drops depending on how strong you want it)

What you do:

Stir everything together in a bowl. If you make enough, you can store it for up to 2 months in a jar.

Why it’s good:

This is one of those scrubs that’s really good for stressful days because of the soothing effect of  essential oils. Also good for dry skin and cold weather to protect your skin!

DIY Coconut Ginger Sugar Scrub

Ingredients:

1 cup of brown Sugar in the War

1/3 cup of coconut oil

1/4 of cold pressed oil (like almond or sunflower seed)

1 tablespoons ground ginger

What you do:

Over low hear, combine coconut oil and ginger in a pan. Then, let it cool and add the oil to the mixture. Pour in the sugar and mix it all. Use either immediately or save for later.

Why it’s good:

Like any other scrub, this leaves the body feeling really smooth: the sugar literally scrubs off dead skin cells, leaving it soft and the coconut oil gives your skin an extra touch of smoothness.
