Take a gander at any salary-based data, and you’ll likely walk away depressed that men make so much more money than women.
In fact, Glassdoor recently found that nine out of the 10 highest paying careers are male-dominated, while six out of the 10 lowest-paying careers are female dominated.

Disappointing, but unsurprising. There is, however, a very small silver lining here in that the same analysis found 10 careers that tend to pay women higher than men.
If you haven’t decided your college major yet, you might want to take notes.
1. Architecture
Average female salary within five years: $57,000
Average male salary within five years: $50,000
Architecture is one of those college majors that leaves you in the lab sketching at 3 am on a Saturday night instead of at the local frat house doing keg stands. But if you’re cool with that, you can make more money than all the douchebags who try to mansplain CAD to you!

2. Music
Average female salary within five years: $44,020
Average male salary within five years: $40,000
It’s kind of unclear if this includes female singers and musicians. In that case, it wouldn’t surprise us if women made more money. But considering the average salary, we’re assuming it’s more along the lines of corporate music gigs. If you’re lucky enough to get a job in the industry, stick with it!
3. Social Work
Average female salary within five years: $40,640
Average male salary within five years: $37,500
This is notable because social work is a traditionally female field, and most of the other careers on this list are more male-dominated. Yay for social work!

4. Advertising

Sorry mad men, but it looks like the mad women are the ones running the show — or like, at least they’re getting paid enough for the work they do.

Good news, if environmental science still exists by the time you finish college, you won’t suffer the wage gap!
6. Chemical Engineering
